Monte Velho is located in the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, where southwest Europe meets the Atlantic.
As we relax in this beautiful and sacred environment, we are accompanied by the magnificent land and nature that surrounds us. Mountains, trees, plants, open skies and the strong and powerful essence of the ocean, as well as the warmth of the sun, are our guides and foundation.

SELF-CARE RETREAT is an extended weekend retreat where nature in all its splendor invites you to slow down. Immersed in the aromas and energy of the place, you will explore knowledge about medicinal plants and discover the healing power of nature. Through Expressive Arts, Yoga, Natural Medicine, ancestral practices and self-care, you will restore balance and awaken a new energy within yourself, in a space where nature and your essence meet in harmony.

Vera Balsemão holds a degree in Art Therapy and Ecopsychotherapy, showcasing a deep passion for the world of arts and human development.
Her life journey, profoundly influenced by her spiritual and holistic experience as a mother, led her to a deep connection with her essence and purpose. Inspired by this path, Vera founded the first Waldorf Primary School in the Algarve, contributing to the community in southern Portugal.
As an Anthroposophical Art Therapist, she has supported various social projects and retreats at the Monte Velho Retreat Center. Recently, she embraced a new chapter by pursuing advanced studies in Australia, where she graduated as an Artistic Psychotherapist and Ecopsychotherapist. These qualifications have equipped her with a wide range of therapeutic techniques linked to the arts and nature.
Vera believes in the transformative power of creativity through multimodal arts and nature as profound tools of knowledge, facilitating processes of healing and personal growth.

I walk my path asking my ancestors to remember why I'm here for and how to live a life in connection with the essencial.
I devote my life to working within Indigenous tribes from Amazonia, creating different projects, traveling the world with them, spreading the word of the elders and studying the art of healing with stories, plants and chants, taking care of earth and the geometry of old traditions.
I also dedicate my life working with womens, using different practices to the wellbeing of body, mind and soul, using Yoga, meditation, ayurveda, natural gynecology, nutrition and herbalism as tools of self knowledge.
